As an E5? I don't think my command is going to kick me out. I'm inna rotation right now an im mission essential. I talked with my 1sgnand he think ima just get a reprimand from the CG but no article 15 or separation. Is it possible to stay in and still make career out the Army? How hard will it be for security clearance and trying to get rank passed E6?

You might lose your clearance and thus your MOS, but that's a separate matter. As a SGT you can definitely overcome a DUI. It will certainly slow your career a bit, you'll probably never commission and there are career enhancing opportunities you'll never receive, but it's not a death sentence to you. In a few years you can request to have the GOMOR moved to your restricted file and the promotion board will never really see it. But it will put you a few years behind your peers and you will probably never become a SGM.

Additionally, as of 2018 ALL SM's that receive a GOMOR will be initiated for separation. One in their record I mean... If they got a local well... That's another story. I've also seen some suspended GOMOR determinations but SM wood be flagged the whole time until the end of suspension period.

CW2 (Join to see) that may be a local policy but that is not an Army policy that I am aware of. Commanders may decide to separate junior enlisted if the situation warrants and anyone E6 and above will have their Separation decided by the QMP board

SFC Boyd, based on my experience with USAR, that is partly correct. Yes, GOMORS will trigger QMP based on unfavorable information (AR 600-37 latest is from 2018). I have seen these happen quickly with AGR soldiers. Not so much with TPUs. The OSJA will most likely in my experience recommend to the commander to initiate a separation board for misconduct. Based on my experience, anyone that has received a GOMOR in their AMHRR (regardless of rank) will be initiated for separation. Why are there so many posts of soldiers getting DUIs?????? Why??? I've made clear my opinion on people who get a DUI but damn people. C'mon. Why take that risk? The risk to not just your career but the other people on the road.
IF you don't lose your clearance over this, I'll be 100% surprised. As of right now, your access should have been suspended, along with your SCI access if you're read on to SCI right now. So that takes you out of being "mission essential" until this is all said and done and a final 5248-R is submitted. I also will be surprised if you don't lose your clearance because the top 3 reasons people lose access and their clearance are financial delinquency, alcohol incidents and drugs.

SFC (Join to see) and I have had talks about DUIs before, so she knows my stance. I have zero sympathy for drunk drivers. This will be the most mature thing I can say about DUIs without really telling you how I feel about it.
When we hear about DUIs, it’s very easy to assume the one involved was blackout drunk, and everyone is surprised they could walk to the car, much less drive it. Being too impaired to drive isn’t that easy. Just because you quit drinking before you started doing shots out of some stripper’s belly button, no one had to carry you to the car, and you might not blow a 0.08 on a breathalyzer doesn’t mean you’re sober enough to drive. I’ve never seen it with less, and it depends on other factors, but it can take just two drinks to impair your ability to drive. I’ve seen a lot of people who thought they were still sober just because they could stand up and walk without faceplanting in the parking lot. Trust me, you’re drunk.
If you’re drinking, have a plan in place to get home. If you don’t have a plan, don’t drink.

My question is, what are you going to do different? Getting a DUI is a major fuck up and can ruin you both in the military and civilian sector, so what is in your plans moving forward to do different? Dont cherry coat it, I have been lit plenty of times as an officer and still question a couple Oktoberfests in Munich how I managed the subway to get to my hotel. You must start with a plan today that this never happens and never drinking is not a plan.
