I saw this poster and pretty much lost all credibility for it. It is not for the program itself but for way they are advertising it. I think Ranger school is by far the worst example of this. Activity, got a whole lot of that. Nutrition, if you consider losing 30lbs good enough then great. Sleep, Hahahahahaha!

SSG, not every MOS pounds the pavement as a daily regiment. Soldiers are coming into the military very wise. This is to say that we must stop assuming our Soldiers know about proper nutrition and exercise.

Counseling your Soldiers goes beyond the mission. You are forever changing your Soldiers lives. I only ask the question of the Performance Triad in counseling to see how us as leaders are impacting the total Soldiers lives.

As far as sitting behind a computer and typing counseling's. I'd hope that Squad Leaders do more that just counsel on paper.

My last comment was more ranting at the wall, than at you, SSG.

I've been in a unit whose culture was, if the counseling isn't on paper, it didn't happen.

Oh. I've been in that kind of unit. You can work around all that. When you become that Senior Leader, you remember how this did not work for you.

Why do you think that, that unit was like that?

I was a CPL at the time, and that's a tough rank. Half SGT, half Joe. So getting any inside scoop was tough to get at the team leader level. So I attribute the issue to two things...

1) Ass covering from the senior leadership, totally disconnected from the muddy boots level.

2) Lack of faith in Junior Leaders to actually look out for their soldiers.
