A soldier fails H/W & tape.
Can he / she still attend BLC? I was under the impression that the regulation AR 600-9 states that if a soldier fails to meet the standards it calls for removal of all favorable action, military schools etc...
I am curious because there is a soldier in my unit who failed tape and they are still letting her submit a blc as a walk in packet , but she clearly did not meet the standard. I was next to the office and heard our new 1sg verbally counsel Failures.
She is a soldier that the previous acting 1sg had personal relationship with that he penciled her H/W , her PT cards, and he wanted to see her progress before me and tried to put personal negative feelings against me as a reason to not allow me to walk in a few months ago, that’s until I came up on a hard slot on ATTRS.
So my question is... as soon as I came up on a hard slot, I heard her whispering about getting her packet together and they signed it no problem. So now I know of this failure for H/W... what’s going to happen with her??? She’s like 30 lbs over and I’m wanting to see what fishy actions my unit will take.
I read the reg, and know that the right way would be. But I feel that my unit will cover for her. Also I am orderly so i process these flags.

As a prior instructor, my answer would be "no". If they arrive at the academy and fail their height/weight or PT test, they are given a short period of time to meet the standard or they are dropped from the course and returned to their unit. It doesn't matter what's on the card from the unit. They will do height/weight and PT at the academy.

Failed HT/WT requires a FLAG. FLAG negates ALL favorable actions. Well, when the regulations are followed properly.
Now, since her stuff was allegedly pencil whipped by the former acting 1SG...I say allegedly because I do not have confirmed information, and honestly neither do you unless you personally witnessed them doctor the 5500 and doctor DTMS....what will happen is that when she gets to BLC and gets taped and fails, she is gonna get sent home. Then, the BDE and BN CSMs for this Soldier will get a ring from the BLC Commandant. Then, your 1SG is gonna get an earful. Some asses will get burned for this.
Now, if you know of or suspect illicit activities in regards to her BLC packet, possible doctored documents, etc.., then I highly suggest you take this to your Commander and inform them of the situation. However, if you feel that your Commander is a part of this, then you can either take this to your BN CSM thru their Open Door Policy or contact the IG office. Either way, have your ducks in a row. Once you do this, then wash your hands of it and get yourself prepped for BLC.

Could it be that she does not want to go? Therefore, sending her would not be a favorable action, but rather unfavorable and permitted. Glad I never had to deal with all this stuff.

There is most likely sone misinformation related to the situation you have identified. The Soldier should be flagged if they fail the height and weight standard. I doubt very seriously that the unit would send the Soldier under adverse action.

Well... My supervisor in Fort Stewart has been sent, then returned, to PLDC multiple times; despite being "overweight." I put that word in quotation marks because, honestly, I don't consider anyone who passes the PT test to be overweight.

SPC July Macias - I understand that one very well. I'd been "overweight" my entire Army career according to the Army standard. But I always taped under and scored high of the APFT after BCT. In BCT, I scored 240+ regularly. Outside of BCT, I always scored between 270 and 291. But I was ALWAYS overweight.
