Greeting, I just need some clear information about COT
leave. I PCSed from an overseas assignment to another
overseas assignment, I'm authorized for a COT leave but I
didn't take PCS leave and go straight to my new
unitstation, I was told once that I have to defer my COT or
I'll lose it. My last unit didn't do anything and I didn't have
a chance to do a deferment back there. Is that mean I lost
my COT leave? And luckily if I'm still authorized, can I use
it to go somewhere else other than my HOR bc I traveled
back there last year already and really want to go
somewhere else. Thank you.

You're going to have to open up the DOD Joint Travel Reg and find the answer yourself, because if your unit isn't giving you the correct answer you'll need to show them in black and white.

Being stationed overseas things work slightly different because manning requirements are a bigger concern as people coming onboard requires more leg work and logistics. I spent almost 4 years on Embassy Duty and COT leave was secondary to mission readiness and manpower. Leave sometimes gets deferred to a later time. You will need to coordinate with your leadership to get some time off if you weren't afforded that option before reporting. On Embassy Duty we encouraged folks to take leave while in transit between posts because it wasn't a guarantee you would be able to once you report. Embassy Security is fast paced and you hit the ground running. Good Luck
