I was promoted as an E5 in OCT of 2020. I the. went into IRR in october and got back in as a reclass. Started AIT in August of 2021 and finished AIT in January2022. I got to my unit In February 2022. What kind of NCOER will that be? Is it an extended annual? If so, what codes will I use for this NCOER?

The rated period should only include the timeframe that you were assigned to the supervision of the unit (February 2022).

I'm a bit fuzzy on this one ... does AIT give you a 1059 like other schools do? If so, that's your coverage.

No coverage for your time in the IRR, that is what HRC considers an "acceptable gap" and won't be covered.

(3) Gaps in a Soldier’s evaluation history may occur for various reasons. A majority of these gaps are acceptable, while others are unacceptable.
(a) Acceptable gaps between OERs or NCOERs include periods when a Soldier was in a nonratable status when no OER or NCOER was warranted, such as a break in service. For USAR and ARNG Soldiers, periods in the IRR or inactive national guard (ING) are nonratable periods; therefore, these periods will appear as gaps in the evaluation report history.

So, this is the timeline than?

OCT 20 - Promoted to E5
NOV 20 - Transfer to IRR
Sometime in 2021 - Reenlisted in the Active Component
AUG 21 - JAN 22 - Attended AIT
FEB 22 - Assigned to current unit

If so, then this will be your first NCOER and it will be a regular annual covering from FEB 22 through FEB 23.

You wouldn't have had enough time for an NCOER after being promoted so there's no "previous evaluation". You MIGHT have had the need for one if you actually had a previous NCOER (likely not though, but it COULD be interpreted that way).*

Your time in the IRR between NOV 20 and AUG 21 is non-rated, but considered an 'acceptable gap' by HRC (as explained previously).

----------------------------------------------
* Extended Annual - A mandatory code 10, “Extended Annual” report, will be prepared when any nonrated time periods have occurred since the “Thru” date of the previous OER or NCOER (for example, prior to the establishment of a new rating relationship between the rated Soldier and the rater). The “From” date of the period covered on the “Extended Annual” report will be the day after the “Thru” date of the last OER or NCOER.

Your NCOER starts from when you arrive at your unit, none of the IRR or school time counts.

School time is not rated time.
