I can't help but to see a trend of just posting a headline with a link happening a lot. I do appreciate reading a good piece every once and while but what I would really like to see is how you steer the discussion by how you interpret it. Just pasting a headline and link really isn't doing more than paying homeage to the publisher that wrote it.
Am I the only one see this? I would never discourage anyone from posting on here but I would encourage some to provide their perspective. At this point sometimes I think my feed here mirrors the front page of the Army Times or some other publication.
If it is worth posting I would like to know why it was worth posting at least. I don't think that is too much to ask more.

CPT (Join to see) I agree with you in some degree. I actually like some of the articles that have a link to a well-written piece in the news. I depend on it now everyday when I'm on RP. There are some that don't make sense (like my post about North Korea yesterday), but there are some that have valuable information and great pointers for the younger leadership on RP. It's a good mix with both commentary and links that works on this site. Sometimes "It is what it is!"
By the way, that is why I try to only post something of value (most of the time) and only periodically. I think it is good to mix up a little. Sometimes just plain commentary can be boring too.

I would rather read a thoughtful article about defense issues, for example, than respond to some of the silly discussions that people post like, "What's your favorite prank?" Some people post inane questions just to accrue points. It drives me crazy that you can't just post something on this site you think others might like to read, or to share a thought you had or something interesting you noticed, without asking it in the form of a question. This isn't Jeopardy. We are all grownups and perfectly capable of engaging in discussion - or not, as we prefer. Sometimes it's nice to share without having to artificially generate a conversation on every single topic.

I would contend that the purpose of Rallypoint is to engage members in a discussion forum more so than a social media share point. Members could still share an article but the point is to discuss here. As a business model they are also trying to keep member from leaving this website. If all the discussion turn into that then Rallypoint could collapse.

Well, CPT (Join to see), you have certainly been here longer than I. I'm new. But I think that intent has turned many of the posts into silly topics that don't meet the test of what I would consider a professional military social site. For instance, you turned my sharing of a cool photo of an EA-6B Prowler in tension on the catapult at night, taken on NVG's, into a question about what other people missed from their service, which was not my intent at all. I just thought people might like to see a cool photo without discussing anything.
I would more likely leave the site due to the incessant silly questions than because people share articles or photos. I don't like being shepherded that way. And I think you underestimate the strength of your own site if you think that would cause it to collapse.

CAPT (Join to see) - While the actions of us, being Admins, are consistent with RP 3-1. That is the policy that we are to uphold. The "Answers" Forum is exactly that. A forum to where you can get answers. If you would have liked to share a photo you could have but then a question in which was relevant should have accompanied it. There have been other questions in similar fashion that have been able to meet such a expectation. This isn't the first time questions have been altered and I am sure as you till find in time it won't be the last. In addition to this there are silly questions that you may have never seen due to them being removed. But there is a General discussion section here that member can ask a question that may not be in any relation to the military or government. What may be silly to us may not be silly to others.
