So I was a Marine in Okinawa and, at the time, we weren't allowed to go to Kadena if we weren't stationed there. I was an 03 and we were confined to Schwab and Hansen farther north. That said, we all knew Kadena was a good place to be so you should be good. Congrats and enjoy your time, the scuba diving is great in Oki so take advantage of it at MWR. Several of my guys earned their civilian Master Diver certifications there.

Duties: As a wheeled vehicle mechanic, your primary responsibility will be to maintain, repair, and service the base's fleet of wheeled vehicles, including cars, trucks, and specialized vehicles. You may perform routine maintenance tasks, diagnose and troubleshoot vehicle issues, and conduct repairs to ensure vehicles are in operational condition.

Work Environment: You will work in a military base environment, typically within a maintenance facility or workshop. This may involve both indoor and outdoor work, depending on the specific tasks and conditions. You can expect to work closely with a team of mechanics and other support personnel.

Training and Certification: Prior to your assignment, you should have received training and certification as a 91B through the U.S. Army. Your training will equip you with the necessary skills and knowledge to perform your duties effectively.

Schedule: The work schedule at Kadena Air Base will typically follow a standard military schedule, which can include regular working hours, rotating shifts, and occasional on-call or weekend duty. Your specific schedule will depend on the needs of the base and your assigned unit.

Deployment and Exercises: As a member of the military, there is always a possibility of deployment or participation in training exercises. This may involve temporary assignments to other locations or involvement in joint operations with other military branches.
