I am trying to make improvements to my company's in-processing procedures and get my orderly/training room squared away after learning about the existence of a HQ inspection. Looking for advice/guidance/examples of...
-Company-level in-processing checklists
-R&I counseling
-Orderly/Training room battle rhythm/SOP
-COMET Inspection checklists
-SMIF Creation/Up-keep
I have found that in aviation units, these areas are often overlooked or not given the attention they deserve. Given the extreme manning issues plaguing the Army right now, I am the only one running both offices. It seems that I am uncovering new deficiencies every day and need to find ways to streamline my processes to ensure that current and incoming Soldiers are taken care of administratively. Lastly, it is important to note that Orderly rooms in my brigade do not have access to IPPS-A. So, I am trying to find ways to bridge that gap.

Our inprocessing checklist is continuing to change (thanks to IPPSA and all the required permissions). Some things should never change, need to update/verify: DA 5960, SGLV, Family Care Plans, CAC, IPERMS (verify records and upload missing documents). Admin areas that have moved to IPPSA are receiving the SM, DD93, STP update, address update, contracts, assignment orders.

Thank you Ma'am, you just gave me an idea. Payday Activities are starting up in my BN again, and that seems like the perfect time to update and verify everyone's files.

Sometimes we have to get creative. Most units do not have time to do Admin SRP during the year. Take advantage of the time you have the the majority of Soldiers together, such as accountability formations or payday activities - this would be a good time to verify addresses, phone numbers, marital status. Rosters do not all have to be updated at the same time, so if you only have time to do 1, that is better than nothing.

I can't speak to the IPPS-A part of it, when I was a training room NCO, I didn't have much to deal with as they were barely rolling it out in 2017.
But something you can give new guys is the down low on their 1SG/CO, PSG/PL, and SL. You taking 30 seconds to give them the frame of mind of who they're dealing with will at least help them present themselves in the best way possible (if they don't, on them).
For the training room itself and your records, cover all your bases: latest NCOER or OER, IPPS-A (instead of ERB), orders, PT card, range card and any other kind of paperwork that they will need that they could lose or forget. It doesn't cost you but 2 minutes to copy that stuff and file it in their smith files.
I also found that if you could keep copy of the larger unit's "blue book" (book of standards for the unit) or the specific battalions or company's requirements (such as diamond on left side of ACH cover, or specific info on the cat eyes) that you can easily hand out, makes their checklist easier to get completed.
I'd be surprised if your company has you do a reception counseling, but if they do; create one repeatable file that hits all the major bullet points of being a soldier in that area and is generally broad that way it covers all the actions of a soldier fresh from AIT showing up Friday afternoon and getting their first weekend of freedom.

If you have specific questions please feel free to message me and we can talk a little more in depth, it is quite a broad question. I'd be happy to give at least a distance or direction to work with if I can.
