I made a Hotline request, and HRC approved it. I want to know if I have to decide right now. Or is the retention NCO trying to pressure me into signing a contract? NEED HELP

I've been in the Army a long damn time, but a Hotline Request? What is that, exactly?

SGT (Join to see) - Just to be clear, you wanted something specific (location, reclass, etc.) and your Career Counselor sent the request to HRC, the RBB at HRC approved your request and sent it back to the CC, and now you want to know if there is a set timeline to accept the request you made?

I'll defer to any Career Counselors out there that have different advice, but I'm not aware of a 'set-in-stone' timeframe. Just as bonuses, IN/OUT calls, etc. and change without warning, I would put this approval in the same category. Your request is approved now.

Will conditions change where that approval will be rescinded in the future? Possibly. For example, hypothetically you had your hotline request for a specific location that wasn't available. HRC approved the request because they did some digging and found a slot for you (rank/MOS) that they could shoehorn you into right now. However, as time goes by, conditions changed and now they can't do it.

AR 601-280, The Army Reenlistment Program may have something in writing but normally the RETAIN messages that a Career Counselor has on file spells out exact timelines.
Keep in mind, I have been retired since late 2019, things change but.... if a Soldier is locked in for an option and not acted on in a timely manner, the Soldier's name line (in RETAIN) goes from Green, Yellow, to Red, when in Red, the Command Career Counselor at your location will contact the servicing CC to inquire as to the hold up on the reenlistment.

If you made the request, did you not want to get a favorable reply? And if you do get a favorable reply, would you not go ahead and make a move before they change their minds and send you to guard an Arctic radar site north of Gnack Neck Alaska? Just saying... Remember HRC might be making you a limited time offer.

Over 220 Solders reenlist every duty day, 1,100 a week.
They are not all your MOS and grade, but when HRC comes back with a hotline request or counter offer, what they are offering likely won't be available after a few days.
They are telling you what's available today, they aren't holding an option for you to think it over.
The idea is to first list out every option you are willing to reenlist for, then go in and request it. If an option on your list comes back, you take it. If not, you don't.
