Does anyone else think the 787 is a outdated way of testing Mavericks? I think with today's tech we can find a better way.

As long as the the DSM-787 DSM IR Target Simulator still works why replace it?

It seems to me that a lot of that test set has to do with integrity. When I first came in and didn't know any better people with at system you can pass a totally bad head just to avoid the work did just that. So in my mind if we had a system to bypass the human aspect it would be better for the stockpile. Since then integrity was established but could have been fixed 5 years ago with a different system. That's probably the one thing I regret as an airman. I just didn't know any better.

If you have people passing a bad then you have bad people and piss poor supervision. Nuff said on the human aspect. I and the people that worked for me took pride in what they did.

We used to point TGM’s outside. If it would lock on to taillights, birds on the ground, people walking. Hey they worked. Live missiles were ran across the test sets. I agree if it works way spend thousands of dollars to replace it.
