Yes. I did well as both a sailor and a soldier. I used my creativity toward problem solving and leadership, and it worked out well. Conversely, now I use my military experience in all aspects of my artwork.

WOW, SGT Aaron Burks! I am highly impressed by how you used your creativity while serving. I never thought about using my creativity in those ways; although I am sure that I did use my creativity to lead.
And your military experience is something that you use in all aspects of your artwork. I totally get that; Sergeant. I am a professional photographer; and what I do, has to be professional enough to display/sell.

There is so much to be said for those that excel in the fine arts. They have a different look on the way things are seen by others. I say that as a guy that could not understand a color wheel when trying to pick out house paint.

My company manufactures guns for a living. Our shop foreman is a sculptor. He makes some amazing things that are not only practical, but look great too. My point is there are so many alternative canvases out there now that are nontraditional yet are still art. It all makes it way into our society and we benefit from it.

SGT William Howell, LOL about your first paragraph.
Evidently it did not matter one bit whether you could understand a color wheel or not.
I as well, have a different outlook on life; as I am a photographer.
Sergeant, you make a very interesting point when you say that non-traditional art work makes its way into society; and that we BENEFIT from it! Nice going! :)

SPC Margaret Higgins Being that I have no talent what so ever in the fine arts makes me appreciate art more. When I think of non-traditional art I have to think of Paris. They have art everywhere, but not only things like statues and paintings (The Louvre is amazing). It is everywhere. The light post are ornate and decorated with lions and symbols. The bridges, buildings, and streets are all a medium for art. By far my favorite place on earth.

I also thought Berlin was pretty cool. When the Wall was up graffiti artist would paint the dull awful symbol of separation with pictures. That was their canvas. It has developed into a non traditional accepted art there now.
