Your age and seniority could very well be an issue. I could be wrong but that was my understanding and things could have changed. Someone in Admin needs to weigh in.Response by Capt Jeff S. made Sep 8 at 2015 10:14 PM2015-09-08T22:14:28-04:002015-09-08T22:14:28-04:00CW4 Private RallyPoint Member952693

MSgt Hazel - there was a 49 year old 30 year TIS CSM in my WOCS class back in 2008. I believe the TIS is waiverable, of course depending upon the Army's needs at the time of your packet submission. I certainly wouldn't let it discourage you from applying! We can always use good, dedicated people with your level of experience! Good luck.

Chief SimmonsResponse by CW4 Private RallyPoint Member made Sep 9 at 2015 12:04 PM2015-09-09T12:04:40-04:002015-09-09T12:04:40-04:00CW2 Private RallyPoint Member953549

I'm an Intel WO and know that 352S is low density, but also currently short of being full strength. While you're beyond the ideal accession point, I would say you stand a pretty good chance of getting your AFS waiver approved. Check the recruiting website previously posted and, if you still have questions, reach out to the POC listed on there for the field you're seeking. They will be the best resource and help to avoid incorrect answers based on hearsay. The only way to guarantee not getting selected is to never submit a packet. Good luck!Response by CW2 Private RallyPoint Member made Sep 9 at 2015 4:12 PM2015-09-09T16:12:02-04:002015-09-09T16:12:02-04:00CW5 Thomas McLaughlin955822

As someone who has participated on several Army Warrant accession boards (I am a retired CW5, 352N) I have to say that you are way past the "regular" accession point (minimum SGT/E5 with <10 years AFS), and asking for a 10-year waver would be unique; getting one would be highly unusual. We generally like to get 10 years of Warrant service from a candidate, and that would put you past the 30-year mark. That said, I'd give it a shot, all they can say is no.
Additionally, there is the issue of your making it through the Warrant Officer Candidate Course (WOCC) at your relatively advanced age - presume you are in your mid-to-late 30's.
Presume that you have looked at the prerequisites (http://www.usarec.army.mil/hq/warrant/prerequ/
WO352S.shtml) and have met the AF-equivalent course requirements.
On another subject, I suspect that as a AF MSgt with 20 years service, DoD, NSA or AFSS would snap you up as a civilian (GG-11/12) fairly quickly - which is more money.Response by CW5 Thomas McLaughlin made Sep 10 at 2015 12:59 PM2015-09-10T12:59:55-04:002015-09-10T12:59:55-04:00CW4 Private RallyPoint Member956175

One additional note - the Army has Warrant Officer Accessions NCOs, whose sole job/purpose is to assist personnel interested in becoming Warrant Officers put together their packets for submission to the selection board. They quite literally tell you exactly what documents you need to provide, and then put everything together in the right order so that the board doesn't kick it back for any issues. I highly recommend you seek out a WO Accessions NCO who is assigned to your area in order to ensure completeness and correctness. At the very least, contact one of the WO Recruiters below to find out who is close enough to assist you with your packet.

http://www.usarec.army.mil/hq/warrant/

INSTALLATION RECRUITERS DATES LOCATION
Fort Benning, GA Primary: CW3 Brumfield
Office: [login to see]
Every Thursday at 1200
"will not occur 30 JUL 15"
Special Operations Recruiting Station
35 Ridgeway Loop- Bldg 35/Rm 114

Fort Campbell, KY Primary: CW4 Roit
Office: [login to see]
Every Wednesday at 1130
Bldg 2206, Indiana Ave

Fort Hood, TX Primary: CW3 Harries
Office: [login to see]
Every Monday at 1130
Special Operations Recruiting Center
Old Ironsides- Bldg 16007

Joint Base Lewis-McChord, WA Primary: CW4 G.
