If you compared the medical benefits of marijuana to acupuncture it is a no contest, but you see which one is paid for. Not even major medical insurances cover most of that. Some of it can be helpful, but not enough to warrant bringing the providers into Government service which validates their practice and obligates the government to pay for it.
It's cash based for a reason - if it works for you, then pay cash for it. MDs and DOs have long held this belief that medicine began and ended with them. The use of chiropractic, homeopathy, acupuncture, to mention a few, have had dramatic and very positive impacts on health care, and those fields should be heartily embraced by the larger medical community. The VA is often very understaffed for things like acupuncture. We have one acupuncture provider at the Pittsburgh VA so our clinic signed up for Veterans Choice to get vets more access for this service. Maj Kim Patterson Response by Col Val Finnell, MD, MPH made Aug 9 at 2016 2:28 PM 2016-08-09T14:28:36-04:00 2016-08-09T14:28:36-04:00 SFC Private RallyPoint Member 1863978

I am an acupuncture clinical intern and was just asked if Tricare paid. Nope. Tricare wouldn't pay for my acupuncture and it has drastically improved the quality of my life. Glad I know that the quality of my life is my responsibility. Some people don't see it that way. Response by SFC Private RallyPoint Member made Sep 4 at 2016 11:31 PM 2016-09-04T23:31:29-04:00 2016-09-04T23:31:29-04:00 2016-08-08T20:21:18-04:00
