American flag on Chinese pole. What are your thoughts?

Shipmates and Battles, what's your thoughts on our nation's flag hanging from a pole that was made in China? I personally believe that the foundation that supports our flag should not come from a communist country.

Walk into any PX/BX/NAVEX you will see many products from China.

I am an American. However, almost all of the clothes we buy are made in Taiwan or China. I suppose when the American textile & clothes industries begin to make clothes of similar price & quality, I might reconsider my buying habits. By the way, I made my own flagpole out of an old broom and some eye-lag screws. Problem solved.

I'd like to wonder what the workers in China may think about making the poles on which is displayed the flag of a country that offers so many more freedoms than their own...

As long as the flag itself was made in the US. Ultimately, where it is made shouldn't be as important as what the flag represents.

Not worried about it. Capitalism is the American way. We find the cheapest place to replace our expensive labor to pass the savings on to the consumer.

Well China owns how much of our debt, so the pole thing is really only semantics.

I won't do it. I'll buy a quality American flag online and build my own pole if I have to and I have.

I bought a flag that came with a small steel pole and a mounting bracket to attach to a building. Problem was, I lived in an apartment and there was no way they were going to let me drill into the brick. I went to the Depot and bought four hanging plant "shepherd hooks" and a handful of hose clamps. Clamped all together, clamped the included pole to the hooks, used a hacksaw to take the hook parts off, sprayed them all gloss white and attached the flag when dried. By doing it this way, I was not making any modification to the building or wooden fence. Gotta love loopholes. It was the only flag in the neighborhood.

I refuse to display the banner of my country on another country's product.

When Sam Walton founded Wal-Mart, one of the things he said was that you would never find a product in any of his stores that wasn't American made. This held true to the day he died.

Walk into a Wal-Mart today and it's hard to find anything American made; most products are made in China or someplace else.

It's sad that so many things we buy today come from outside of America because production costs in places like China are much lower than here in America.

our flag would add class and respect to anything it touched or was hung from. But I do believe we need to make more things in America...
