However, is there a way to do this for a BlackBerry government phone?<br /><br />On a side note...and don't laugh...but if you wanted to buy your own BlackBerry, could you essentially turn it over to the government to have them program to have your own BlackBerry rather than an issued one? Even if you had to turn it over to the government as gov property once you were done with it? I THINK you can get an card reader that works with the Blackberry and then you can read the encrypted email.<br /><br />As for bringing your own Blackberry, I am 95% certain that no post NEC is going to let you do that. Someone on post holds the contracts for the Blackberrys and they would have to add that Blackberry into their contract, which requires the transfer of the number and IMEI to the contract-holder's account. That's a pretty big PIA and I doubt anyone is going to do it. What's the reasoning for wanting to do it?<br /><br />Source: I've been a Corps TCO involved in those contracts.
