When in reception don't squander the chance to do laundry, reception in sill has much better laundry rooms than the bct battalion.
Be ready to have your days be shitty and count every sunset as being closer to leaving. There's going to be stupid rules like wearing eye pro every where you go, hydration beads, battle buddies everywhere you need to go. Just look forward to getting out of tradoc and it being temporary. Tradoc is universally full of misery, I've been stuck in it since August and I get out of it in 2 weeks. Don't want to become a heat cat. Don't be that nasty guy that doesn't shower either, especially when they give you an order for a heat dump (cool shower). There's always one guy who tries to save time by just wiping down. Not good enough.

Bring a sharpie with you, you'll need it to mark your uniforms and other items. On the interior of your uniforms both PT and OCP's there will be tags. Write your last name and last 4 to your SSN on them. For your boots, on the INTERIOR (some idiot did it on the outside in my Company) write your last name and mark each pair with a letter or number on the inside. Such as A, B, and C. The reason is so you can alternate boots each day allowing each pair to sufficiently air out and dry. Helps keep your feet in good order.

The reason for marking everything is because there's one thief in the Army and everyone else is just trying to get their shit back.

SLEEP at every opportunity. In trans SLEEP, off to rack time SLEEP, sitting in your holes take turns and SLEEP. You have never appreciated sleep so damn much, but you will. They're going to keep you awake for 2-3 days straight when you get to Reception (at least they did at Benning) so if you're lucky the guys next to you will take shifts and let you catch 5-10 minutes. You'll have idiots that will stay up during lights out, that's moronic don't do it. Use your ear pro if you have to to tune them out.

Constantly be learning and doing. You'll be given a blue book, study it. You'll be given a warrior tasks book, study it. Some of the NG guys have been drilling before BCT, if they have some experience doing something pick their brain. You're there to follow orders, get in shape, and learn. It's as hard as you make it on yourself. Keep your head down and your mind towards the ultimate goal. That’s graduation. Push yourself in PT. Ultimately, it’s an old cliche but, basic is pretty simple. Right place, right time, right uniform, right attitude. Lastly, police up your battle buddies. If they aren’t squared away it’s gonna be on your head for not fixing him or her.
