Are any Army NG officers able to transition to Active Duty Army now? https://www.rallypoint.com/answers/are-any-army-ng-officers-able-to-transition-to-active-duty-army-now <div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>I only joined Army NG OCS because AD wouldn't accept prior service. And now I keep hearing it's almost impossible to switch, and so it's sad that I have to hope for another war to improve my chances. Has any guard officer been able to make this transition? It was on a program called "call back to active duty". I don't know if they still have it available. I hate to tell you but I don't think that it's going to be easy. First you need to be at least a captain. Second your state needs to release you. This is something that most sates don't want to do. Due to all the money they invested in you. I would also recommend that you go to active duty captains career course. The other thing that would help would be that you were in a critical branch needed for AD. It's a very long process regardles. I wish you good luck. They are still conducting major cuts on AD. But yeah like the above posters said it is nearly impossible. I know only one person who was able to make the transition and it was from the reserves. 1LT Private RallyPoint Member Tue, 29 Sep 2015 09:29:30 -0400 2015-09-29T09:29:30-04:00 Response by MAJ Ken Landgren made Sep 29 at 2015 11:39 AM https://www.rallypoint.com/answers/are-any-army-ng-officers-able-to-transition-to-active-duty-army-now?n=1002115&urlhash=1002115 <div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>Look into a going AGR.
