Why have most of the Marines I've worked with act like they have something to prove?
And why do some of the Naval Officers I've worked with act like their excrement doesn't stink and seem to talk down to NCO's?

Well, staying in my own Service, if you want to be Infantry, you got to be thin. The ability to embrace the Suck is a strong trait. Remember, in the Infantry, there is no Success without Suc.
In the Engineers, if you saw a guy that looked like he was working out with The Rock, you assumed that he was from a Medium Girder Bridge Company. The boys pushing steel all day tended to be on the stout side.

My late older brother always looked down his nose at my choice of service he being a MasterSergeant in the Air Force,and I a lowly grunt ,but you know how older brothers are real dipsh#*&ts sometimes ,no offense to older brothers out there of course,(still miss that crabby old fart)

I took a bus to the MEPPS station and they put us up in a motel, unfortunately we were late arriving and had to share a motel room. my roomie was going into the corp I wanted army airborne so its cool. all night long in his sleep he kept saying over and over "kill commies,kill commies ,kill commies.... this laid the premise of what I thought Marines were. it wasn't until Airborne school and then my first duty assignment I learned ..... my first squad leader "Gunny Mcrea" made me the soldier I am today

My wife says that former naval officers are impatient, kinda "OCD" and able to sleep through anything...Hey,wait a minute!

Seriously though...Most Sailors I know are versatile folks, able to do lots of things at the same time, and somewhat pragmatic, bordering on cynical. Probably comes from having to wear lots of "hats", and constantly having more "stick" than "carrot". Most Soldiers I've known (including my father and father-in-law) are experts in getting through the "suck". Many of the most intelligent and successful people I've known were Airmen.

Marines? Well, I roomed with one at Annapolis, dated a female Marine officer once, and work with one now. Regardless of what anyone says about 'em...if I had to pick anyone to watch my back in a fight, it would be a United States Marine.
