Are we politicians? It seems so in public opinion.

I've heard more than a few civillians say that servicemembers are politicians. To which I've generally responded with we are not politicians , but that every job has its own politics. What is your opinion on this other servicemembers/ veterans?

I'd stop short of politicians but there are "politics" involved at higher hq. It gets old, speak the actual truth and some people come unglued (usually execs). I see no point in sugar coating facts because facts don't change. Might there be a better way to say something, sure. Tact only goes so far and the higher ranking military, I feel, want to hear the "no shit" real answer.

Prior to retiring, I had noticed that the "political play" was being noticed more and more down the chain... But to be honest, it could also be because I was moving up, but in any case, based on your rank and position, yes...

We are not politicians we are to serve and protect the country that is unfortunately being ruined by politicians.
