BTW, I proudly hail from Canada where the vast majority of my relatives still reside. I am a fully naturalized American citizen (who became one the old-fashioned way - I stood in line for six years), but I do retain the right to reclaim my Canadian citizenship in full, if and/or when I desire to return.

I was born here in the USA, but I was interested in getting an idea if there is a high number of foreign-born service members. I only see one more answer; an answer that seems rather condescending to me. I think this is a good question. We are prior military people and for me this is a relevant and interesting topic!

Born and raised in the good 'ol USA but my Dad's grandparents came across the northern border from Canada, having moved there from France (Great Grandfather) and Ireland (Great Grandmother). I BELIEVE I could gain dual Canadian/US citizenship based on this, but I could be wrong.

Honestly, and no disrespect is intended, intentional or unintentional, I have no desire for Canadian citizenship. While I am proud of my heritage, I also have no ties to Canada as all my relatives moved to Michigan so I have no Canadian relatives that I'm aware of.

With that said, Canada is the country I admire most after the USA. Especially since I grew up in Michigan.

Born in Puerto Rico.
All of my Grandparents were dual citizens of Spain first and later in 1917 of the US. When I came to the US as a Draftee, some people in Ft Benning and in the State of Georgia, didn't know we PR's were Born US Citizens. So a few guys asked how come we got Drafted.

Same happened with the racial issue.
I know I'm white Hispanic, and blacks and I'm sure almost all whites saw me as such. But some lady of the Red Cross at Benning Hospital, checked me as "black", maybe with the intention to offend. I was not offended at all 'cause I had many black friends in PR AND made some more in the US. Furthermore, had a black girlfriend once.

I built a coconut raft in the Philippines, assembled provisions, and a big Tiger jumped on the raft. I think his name was Gustavo, but I digress. I was 5 miles from the California Coast when a fishing charter boat fished under my raft. They caught their limit of fish and called the Coast Guard, now I am just a bitter old man.

I was born in ROK and naturalized.
