Prime example the BG from the 82nd that has dragged out for almost 2 years currently that if they were enlisted would have been completed in probably 60-90 days with a full conviction and loss of rank and benefits along with a BCD and prison time, but can anyone count above one hand on how many officers that have not been either brushed under the rug or allowed to retire have actually been convicted. NO

The entire system needs to be turned over to private entity for investigation and prosecution of allegations and charges, point blank will be the only way to fix the broke and disgraced one currently utilized.
Response by SFC James Baber made Mar 8 at 2014 8:32 PM 2014-03-08T20:32:55-05:00 2014-03-08T20:32:55-05:00 SSgt Private RallyPoint Member 244084

1SG Calanski Brunson The outcome is like a witch hunt of sorts. Women faced that, blacks face(d) it and other various individuals have fallen victim to a grab bag of incoherent allegations.

Victims must not feel afraid to report infractions but our solutions as always need a few sacrificial lambs. If Ray Rice, Adrian Peterson and Tiger Woods are singled out. (this has nothing to do with race, so nobody start).

The rhetoric comes from lawyers, politicians and sinful moralists with an eye for the brass ring. And this is always at the expense of someone. If this kind of thing needs addressing then why have not adopted preventive measures? There are virtually none. Opportunists will rake (a defendant) over the coals to make political points while the unforeseen shattering of lives go unchecked.

Ray Rice no longer has a job. His wife is angry because people outside of the debate are pushing for change. The result is that what possibly can be fixed is swept under the rug. A godless society of pathological sickos and a myriads of (un)reality programs keep us numbed and without a heart.

Does the wife of Ray Rice have a voice? Can Ray Rice change? Do laws appear as effective? The answer is none of the above. The abusers will now be more stealth and boundaries are not taught nor enforced. The abused get the lost in a shuffle. Women's advocates (so-called) are in it for the pounds, marks or dollars and to hell with the victims that will suffer tonight.

SHARP is another example of social politics. President Clinton's DADT is truly more realistic than what we have now. But groups like Act UP actually for people to accept and even endorse what they do not believe in. This is counter-intuitive playing both sides at odds with each other.

NFL football has all but defense because players (affected by lawyers) are making games unwatchable, so much so that there 24 or more penalties called in the game.

I am glad you brought this topic up, because the charges are alleged and at the same time, not ironic, that the very one prosecuted is among those who have trespassed upon with no consideration to the larger harm. Which is, TO PREVENT!!!! All the hanging judges and eager politicians rake in votes and prestige to themselves while the victim was not able to keep her life as financially secure.

So enough with slogans. They do not work! What works is teaching children very young how to act. Provide for hungry children meals and help the homeless. The solution is not laws but education. An education that starts when the rhetoric is put to bed.

Good topic friend. Thanks.
Larry Response by SSgt Private RallyPoint Member made Sep 16 at 2014 7:36 PM 2014-09-16T19:36:35-04:00 2014-09-16T19:36:35-04:00 1SG Michael Blount 288011

Only suspended? If the guy was enlisted, they'd have hanged him a while ago. It's about time the Army leveled the playing field for la-de-da-de-everybody, regardless of rank. This sort of behavior only perpetuates the belief that if you have enough rank, you can do just about anything and get away with it. Consider that where there is smoke, we know there must be fire; yet the fire is sometimes the result of arson. So don't let the headlines aim your weapon at the wrong target. I don't defend anyone with out facts and won't shoot them without facts. When I handled a case at Ft X where females were afraid to come to work and no one took their complaints seriously, it was very demoralizing for us all. It turned out that everyone was sleeping with everyone, and then getting medals...racial issues, command issues, boys will be boys mentality, officers wives....worse than I can describe here...It took all kinds of investigations and actions prompted by me as a lowly master sergeant and a wonderful Lt Col before actions finally took place. We had to be squeaky clean. Inordinate amounts of record keeping and counseling. Then the command flipped and came after us for forcing the action. Every dirty trick you might imagine aimed at us. Never any formal charges, lots of intimidation; even the women who complained started recanting. I was in shock, my Eagle Scout NCO mentality that I was doing what I was supposed to do to "correct detrimental conditions'' seemed like an empty promise. Took TWO YEARS to straighten that mess out. this was in the middle of SMA courtmartial.... Still got promoted in the secondary zone to SGM and ended up being the acting garrison CSM. Also promoted to Captain in the USAR. Recognized by SECA, SMA, NAACP,etc. I will carry my footlocker full of IG and 15-6 papers with me for the rest of my life as a reminder. The point here is that in the end, the system did work. I've never been the same, cost me a marriage, but Ft X isn't the same either. Let's hope that there are enough good people there now to do the right thing always. No brag, just fact. Reminds me of the Air Force officer who led the Air Force's sexual assault effort being accused of groping a woman in Virginia. This post caused me to look the guy up.
