As summer is winding down is this one of your best summers, worst summers or in between?

The summer of 2015 is winding down. Parents of young children are getting ready for them to go back to school. Parents of older children have been helping them either get to college, go back to college, and in some cases join the military. Some are starting new careers while others have recently retired which can be bittersweet. Some of us have found work while others of us have lost our employment. Others of us have lost close friends and family to death, disease or injury this summer. I hope and pray that each of you has had some great times this summer but realize that not everybody does.

This summer has been spent helping my wife take care of her aging mother, going through medical tests [primarily cardiology], helping my grown sons as I am able, encouraging others through greeting, service at church and prayer. I am hopeful that this summer will blossom into a great autumn. This has been a challenging summer; but, certainly not my worse one.

On the bright side, I've spent a lot of time with my kids, doing fun stuff. That has been a joy.
On the down side, my wife is moving out.

Mixed bag, for sure. Kind of a summer of extremes.

This has been a good summer. I went to Colorado Springs to help my parents get ready to sell their house, I dropped 50 pounds, I started working out, I still have a good job. Yeah nothing epic, but it has been pretty good. LTC Stephen F.

This was my first summer as a retiree. I kind of feel useless, it's too hot to spend a lot of time outside (how did I survive Iraq or Afghanistan?). Bring on the cooler weather! !

This has been a great summer.My youngest son is home from Afghanistan,he and my 4 year old granddaughter have spent the whole summer with me.

I don't really like to compare my past with my future (if I think I've seen the worst, perhaps I have NO idea how bad it could really be!) - So I tend to think in terms of the here and now and I live each day with thanksgiving for what I have! When I do that - life just seems to get better everyday - sure there are some days that are not as good, but they are very rare for me. I try hard each day to serve others and I actively look for opportunities to do just that - and I think this summer has been full of opportunities (as is each day) and I did my best to make the most of them - so it's not better or worse than any other time other than when I was a child and did childish things. :-)

This summer, primarily the last month and a half has probably been my worst for various reasons. Despite that, I have the most motivation I have ever had to push to get both my Associates degree and to try my hardest to prepare for my Staff Sergeant test next spring. We'll see what the next few months hold but I am happy to be putting these last couple in the past.

Seeing as how I'm stuck over in the sandbox, and spending the second consecutive summer away from my family (last year I was in Korea), this one doesn't rank very high in the all time list.

Got to meet my newest Grandchild #5 Josephine Lynn Nagel and hang out for a week in Bremerton, WA that I have only visited twice since I retired from there 17 years ago and the weather was lovely if a bit dry for Seattle.

LTC Stephen F. Now you can see how far I'm behind and I have only 4 "Up Votes" left for the day. Great summer because I got to put in over 5,000 miles of riding time from California to South Dakota on my Motorcycle. Saw some great country and met some great people.

I'm leaning to the bad side. Setting up the new home in Idaho, getting the old place fixed up and on the market west of Seattle, geobatching it while the wife finishes off her work, etc. has been a process I just want over with. That said, I got my wife back a couple of weeks ago, hopefully the house closes next week, and there's a big cigar event in September. Things are looking up.
