Are there any hard to acquire schools that you could recommend that I ask for if I re-enlist? I am currently a 35N, previously a 68W. I am interested in SEER. Best schools to go after for a re-enlistment? 2023-02-21T11:21:17-05:00 CPL(P) Private RallyPoint Member 8145148 <div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>I am within months of either re-enlisting or ETSing. The school availability will open up...to include SERE; though there may be a new intel &quot;SEER&quot; course ;-) Response by CSM Chuck Stafford made Feb 21 at 2023 1:08 PM 2023-02-21T13:08:14-05:00 2023-02-21T13:08:14-05:00 SFC Ralph E Kelley 8145751 <div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>Submit a DA Form 4187 which will be used by the Department of the Army, also known as a Personnel Action form, is used by a soldier who wants to request a personnel action on their own behalf. This could include training, reassignment, extra rations, name changes, and more.<br />Be sure to include in the remarks section that you will reenlist for current Duty station prior to attendance to the school. Keep a copy. If your command does not send you to the course go to the IG with the copy. Ask (not threaten) about since your commander did not complete his side of the submission (implied when he signed it) that you want to be released from service.<br />Other people here mayhap e able to tell a less confrontational way to achieve your objective. Pardon me but I have always had no filter when it came to my troops be screwed over.<br /><br /><a target="_blank" href="https://home.army.mil/rucker/index.php/tenants/sere">https://home.army.mil/rucker/index.php/tenants/sere</a> <div class="pta-link-card answers-template-image type-default"> <div class="pta-link-card-picture"> <img src="https://d1ndsj6b8hkqu9.cloudfront.net/link_data_pictures/images/000/779/203/qrc/data"> </div> <div class="pta-link-card-content"> <p class="pta-link-card-title"> <a target="blank" href="https://home.army.mil/rucker/index.php/tenants/sere">U.S. Army SERE School :: Fort Rucker</a> </p> <p class="pta-link-card-description">The U.S. Army SERE School conducts the SERE Level–C Course in accordance with Joint and Army Personnel Recovery Doctrine in order to train service members, DOD Civilians, and contractors who are identified as being at high risk of isolation on the Code of Conduct and tactics, techniques, and procedures of survival, escape, resistance, and evasion, enabling them to survive isolation and captivity to “Return with Honor.”</p> </div> <div class="clearfix"></div> </div> Response by SFC Ralph E Kelley made Feb 21 at 2023 4:23 PM 2023-02-21T16:23:35-05:00 2023-02-21T16:23:35-05:00 CPT Private RallyPoint Member 8146988 <div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>I honestly don&#39;t understand why SERE is so desired. I don&#39;t of an an situation where this would come in hand if you are not in a unit that already includes it. I understand the value of the course. I have had to E&amp;E in real life. I didn&#39;t need a school. I would recommend to look at your branch to see what is a career progressing school and go to that. Going to camp slappy doesn&#39;t make you stand out. As stated before Airborne, Air Assault, or Ranger would be the best schools if you want to join other units like SF or the Rangers. There are two main SERE schools in the Army, one run by USASOC and the other by the Army. The one that belongs to USASOC cannot be requested, those seats belong to USASOC. The one that is owned by the Army requires a valid need for the school. HRC cannot slot you for it if your MOS isn&#39;t one that requires it. HRC cannot waive course requirements. <br /><br />If you really want to go to SERE, reenlist to go to Bragg, you can walk onto the USASOC SERE course there. They almost always have extra slots Response by SFC Private RallyPoint Member made Feb 22 at 2023 4:23 PM 2023-02-22T16:23:57-05:00 2023-02-22T16:23:57-05:00 CW3 Kevin Storm 8149368 <div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>Me myself, I would look at schools that can help me when I leave the service. Someday you will leave the uniform behind, and still have to find a job. Those courses like SERE maybe the best thing since sliced bread in an MRE, but what will it do for you when you are now stationed in Fort Living Room?
