Great idea on paper. However it has been my experience that when certain services are contracted out, those contract employees have a serious lack of work ethic. They seem to be of the opinion "I'm getting paid regardless of how well I perform, why should I bust my ass?"

yup .. and 10% of the money disappears into "profit"

They should do away with the VA and give disabled vets tricare for life. Them they could go wherever they wanted to

Then what happens with all the cutting edge veteran specific medical type research?

Cutting edge? They are finding new ways to make vets wait in line until they die for treatment they need. If you call that technology, they can keep it. I suppose they could keep an R&D unit open. Or sell it to the highest bidder and contract with whoever buys it to accept tricare.
