If they were in support of OIR or another operation they may depending on length. However if it was just being put on orders to go there and cross train, they probably won't have a patch authorized. I went to Jordan for a week in 2008(?) to cross train their military and we did not get a patch for that. So I was deployed to Jordan for a short time in 2014 to train Jordanian intelligence officers just after their border units were hit by ISIS. I was told I was authorized a combat patch because I was there under Inherent Resolve orders and even though it was training, we were prepping units for direct combat operations against ISIS. However if you read AR 670-1 under location 16 of the authorized locations, you are authorized the patch if you receive hostile fire pay. We weren’t getting that. My Brigade S1 and even ARCENT said we were authorized but I have never worn my 1 ID combat patch from that because I always questioned it and I didn’t want to do the wrong thing. There really isn’t anything they put in your records that backs you up either. I tried to upload the ARCENT memorandum they gave us but that isn’t one of the authorized documents allowed, so I just kept it. But what I do know is a strict training mission to do exercises is not authorized. According to the reg, your training must lead to direct combat operations, your orders have to name Inherent Resolve as your named operation, and you must be receiving Hostile Fire / IDP. It’s in AR 670-1.
