SGT Private RallyPoint Member 5060779 <div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>I’m in the army reserves and I am accepting a new job that will require me to live almost 800 miles away from my current unit. There is a unit within commuting distance from my new location that is the same MOS. With this said my question is: can my current unit prevent me from switching units? They mentioned that they expect to mobilize in 2 years. Can an Army Reserve unit block my transfer to another unit? 2019-09-26T00:00:53-04:00 SGT Private RallyPoint Member 5060779 <div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>I’m in the army reserves and I am accepting a new job that will require me to live almost 800 miles away from my current unit. The Commander is not required to approve the transfer request. If the Commander for your current unit needs you in that slot, then you will be staying put. I forgot to add that your transfer request, when submitted, still needs to run thru ALL the channels it is supposed to run thru. It doesn&#39;t stop at your unit Commander&#39;s desk. Or rather, it&#39;s not supposed to stop there. And most commands are reciprocal as transfers flow in both directions.
