PO2 Nathan Kitts 7633144

Hello military community,

I'm interested in a direct commission to 70B Health Services Administration Officer within the Army Reserves or the Army National Guard. However, from my bit of online research, the MSC is currently overstaffed with 70Bs, and direct commissions for this position are unlikely over the next few years.

With this in mind, I started looking at other 70 series AOCs but discovered that those positions require you to be a 70B first. After several years of being a 70B, you can matriculate into another AOC. My question for the community is, does this also apply to 70D Health Services Systems Management? I've come across what seems to be conflicting answers.

I'm graduating with my Healthcare MBA in the next few weeks and would love to serve part-time within the healthcare administration field. I have a civilian background as corporate operations and IT project manager, which has included many technical projects, including leading our CRM acquisition, implementation, and administration for 600+ users. Can you direct commission into 70D Health Services Systems Management? 2022-04-20T00:10:46-04:00 PO2 Nathan Kitts 7633144

Hello military community,

I'm interested in a direct commission to 70B Health Services Administration Officer within the Army Reserves or the Army National Guard. Try 800% over strength. My unit just recently lost a 70B 1LT because she got passes over for promotion to CPT. If you do come in as a 70B, I HIGHLY recommend you come in running, willing to do any and all things to stand you above your peers. I'm talking Command, Airborne, Air Assault, all kinds of things. As for 70D, that I'm not sure. If you've not done so already, make contact with an AMEDD Recruiter. They will (rather should) have the most up to date info on 70D. But many are enlisted positions. Best bet is talk to a recruiter!

https://www.airforce.com/careers/detail/health-services-management

U.S. Air Force - Career Detail - Health Services Management

Welcome to the United States Air Force. We have not had any 67A/70 series positions available for RA and USAR in about 3 years and could be that way for a few more years. We still have slots for other MSC positions but they are in the single digits for nationwide competition, so that should tell you that even other AOCs are limited as well.

For MSC USAR positions, the only available positions are for 71A and 73A and B. that is all. That was about 3 years ago. Now 70D is 130% overstrength as of this year. Therefore if you lool at the histogram published on G1 it is very unlikely you can get direct commissioned into 70D in the reserves. If you are looking at active duty you can't direct comission as a 70D. You have to be 70B.

Best best bet Unfortunately is to go to another basic branch and do OCS. You have to be a 70B first, then you can move on to another specialty when you become a CPT. If you're interested in computers, try the Signal Cops. They may be less over staffed. I don't know what's going on, I'm retired.
