Can you switch from Army to Marines?

Once your service contract is fulfilled and you have to be released by the Army provided your DD214 allows you to continue Military Service you go to a Marine Recruiter and ask if they will allow prior service.

Yes, but you will get demoted all the way to PVT (E-1) unless you have had college or Army School, in that case you will be promoted to PFC (E-2). So I generally don't recommend switching to the Marines from any branch as you will be going backwards in your military career. If you have been a PFC for 4 years active or 6 years reserve, that means you must done something wrong or lacking in PT, which will greatly decrease your chances of getting into the Marines. Also you will have to go back to boot camp because it's not the same as army basic training. I don't recommend it.

Also I have heard ass of right now there alot of people that are actually trying to get out of the marines. Better life in the army lifestyle wise. So I have been told
