Neither. We should all know the answer. The Constitution. Neither democracy nor capitalism is mentioned in it

According to the DoD, it’s mission statement is, “The mission of the Department of Defense is to provide a lethal Joint Force to defend the security of our country and sustain American influence abroad.”

Further, if push comes to shove, I’d argue that security of the nation would ultimately supersede the defense of the Constitution. If there’s no nation left for which the Constitution can provide a basis of government, what good is it?

By regulation it is the Constitution- not either models- If the Constitution was changes by vote to Socialism/Communism- then by law you would defend that.

Democracy is mob rule, the United States was intended to be a Republic.
There's nothing wrong with capitalism, people who bad mouth the free market are mistaking it for cronyism.
