What is the best way an e-4 soldier can stay oconus during their service? Is it possible for the sm to choose a certain unit or duty station?

I've seen individuals go from one OCONUS assignment to another, but don't spend too much time Oco. Show variety in your career and step out of what could seem like a comfort zone.

The easiest way to stay overseas is to apply for a foreign service tour extension. Go to your PSG and tell him you want to extend. If you are not already pencilled in somewhere else and everything is going fine with you in the unit they'll probably extend you. Failing that or if you are near ETS, you may be able to re-enlist for a specific duty assignment.
