Did anybody else notice that points for mentioning other members didn't get credited for a time? https://www.rallypoint.com/answers/did-anybody-else-notice-that-points-for-mentioning-other-members-didn-t-get-credited-for-a-time

Once I learned that people got points for their member names being mentioned and I received a few points and the names I mentioned tended to respond, I began to embed the member names of people I thought would be interested and specifically included member names of somebody I responded or commented on. I learned I touched a nerve at RallyPoint when I used about 400 embedded names in one post. That generated a processing time issue for RallyPoint and a new policy of no more than 20 names could be used by one person in one discussion.
Last week I noticed that no points were being recorded for entering names. I also discovered that if you use the wrong name [for instance mine is [~member number:Rank First name Last Name] you receive an error that you had entered more than 20 names even if you had only entered one. I realized that was a general error message.
As of this afternoon, credit is given for entering names so I hope to return to by habit of entering names I think would be interested - until I am notified to cease and desist.
I posted a generic version of my name in this paragraph and received "Could not post your discussion. Usually, I only do it when in conversation with a given member and there are multiple responses. I think some were using it to "farm" points - something I think is ridiculous, but some have elevated to high art. 1SG Private RallyPoint Member Wed, 24 Jun 2015 21:17:12 -0400 2015-06-24T21:17:12-04:00 Response by Capt Richard I P. made Jun 24 at 2015 10:27 PM https://www.rallypoint.com/answers/did-anybody-else-notice-that-points-for-mentioning-other-members-didn-t-get-credited-for-a-time?n=768585&urlhash=768585

I noticed I'm not getting any notification when someone tags me, makes it hard to reply to conversations, forget the points. It's always nice seeing that top 1% member, and always nice to have people supporting you when you know you are suggesting something which isn't politically convenient for higher ups aka something which anonymous members could report back to policy makers unhappy that leaders are challenging the status quo or new way at doing things. But this isn't or should not be about getting votes or status but being intellectually honest, logical and ethical and challenging the norm and being willing to seek true improvement. That is being a true patriot and really holding true to our oath as Officers. We all have to ask ourselves, are we here to serve the greater good or to serve our careers? The two are necessarily mutually exclusive but many leaders get lost trying to achieve that balance.
