Did you have a favorite military reg, FM, TM, etc. to read?

Mine were whatever the latest version of Operational Terms and Graphics, AR 670-1 (Uniforms), 600-20 (Army CMD Policy), Infantry Rifle Platoon and Squad, Evaluations, D&C and an oldie FM 100-2-1. Yes, I am aware that this is perhaps the saddest question ever asked on RP but I would geek out on these on a regular basis.

FM 7-8. It is the bread and butter of the Army's fighting force. Read it, learn it, live it, love it.

And be a hard-nosed, hard-charging, ground-pounding, door-kicking, beautiful, badass bastard while you're at it.

MSG Private RallyPoint Member Not sad at all. Everyone has different interests. We had a lot of classified pubs that were necessary to do our job properly. My favorite unclassified thing to read was the UCMJ. We used to read them and discuss the room when the rule was put in place. For example Article 134 (Adultery), we would joke about some admiral pissed off that Jody struck again, so now it has to be on the books. We do have some interesting things in the UCMJ that can have a person standing tall before the mast (figuratively speaking in the modern world).

Read UCMJ OUT OF OCS AND FM 22-5 when going through Basic Training.

55-130 (probably renumbered by now) was the operational directive for flying the C-130. Right behind that was 55-1 which was the general operations manual. It established important stuff for aircrew like crew rest periods and max duty day.

Hated military regulations..lol. Pretty dry and not much fun to read. I didn't make it to the rank of Sergeant Major so I didnt have time to read regulations all day..lol. I would say if I had to pick one it would have been AR 670-1. Soldiers would try to get away with all kinds of uniform violations on a daily basis, so you had to read up in order to make corrections
