I'll say I'm always looking to improve - myself, situations, others. I use the little amount of professionalism, tact, respect, and knowledge (in that order) to help and mentor others when I see necessary. No stripes necessary.

I think military service tends to bring out the leader in us all. That being said, there are opportunities to lead everywhere...from participating in service organizations and volunteering for charities, church, civilian careers (whether in a supervisory position or the career itself, ie. law enforcement), etc.

Yes...I work the Army Wounded Warrior AW2 program and lead my clients towards a path to independence when they are being medically retired.

The military produces some of the best leaders hands down. After retiring from the military I went to work for the DOD. Some of the civilian leaders I met or worked with were good people but didn’t have the structural type of leadership we were taught throughout our careers. A good leader with a military background uses his experience to plan and have a contingency backup ready. That being said, my experience from the military makes me over qualified for some civilian leadership opportunities.
