Normally, unless you&#39;re doing hometown recruiting duties, one normally reports to the assignment upon completion of AIT. Most guys I know have reported immediately after AIT. Some have been put on light shifts for a week or two until they acclimate to the unit, but yeah pretty much hit the ground running. Once they get to their unit, if they have dependents, they get tdy for house hunting. The downside is they haven&#39;t been able to go back home and get their belongings or vehicle. I&#39;m not sure how it is for soldiers that don&#39;t have dependents. Depends how long your training is, that is how far you can only take.
