Everybody needs to use this tool - especially if you are a "young'n" to see what your monthly investment should be to retirement.
Let's play a game.... take military retirement (the traditional pension form that has been popular until the change that was recently announced) off the table. Pretend it doesn't exist and you don't have it. Do this survey without it. Figure your R:IQ without it...you'll see that it's actually quite easy to plan your OWN retirement without depending on the government to do it for you.... and those of you who are lucky enough to get that sweet pension....well, it just becomes gravy on top.

I'm going to give you a Dave Ramsey quote - "If you're still sucking wind, you're not too old to better yourself."
You can still retire with dignity. Do you have debt? If so, your first priority should be to knock it out. Once you knock the debt out, then all you will NEED in retirement is living expenses. Want to know how to live a comfortable life on a minimal amount as a bad@$$? Check out http://www.mrmoneymustache.com. I will warn you though - he's got some colorful language, and some radical ideas that go against the norm.

I 100% agree with you. My husband and I are FPU coordinators for his class at our church and have been following the plan for over 6 years now. I wish I had known this stuff when I was active duty. Makes me ILL that there is so much politically correct crap to jump through to bring it to military bases for fear if offending someone based on the fact that it has a religious spin to it. Here's an idea: make it optional but offer incentives folks really can't refuse to get their butts in the door. :)
