Do you support the militia?

The 2nd Amendment indentifies that a militia is necessary for the security of of a free state. Do you support the militia as it stands today? If so, would you consider joining one after you are out? If you do not support the militia in todays society, why not?

This really is a loaded question.

Your interpretation of what a "militia" is makes the difference to a lot of people.

The National Guard is the approved State Militia.
The Reserves are the on-call federal Militia.
Both are well regulated and registered and in most cases, universally approved.

The freeman and independent militias are a completely different story though. I would guess it depends on the charter of the militia and the character of it's members... I tend to reserve judgment based on what I see.

If the militia is recognized by their state government, yes. If they aren't, no. I won't get into specifics as to why I don't support "private" militias here, suffice to say I don't support them.

It's something I would join or organize if "sh*t hit's the fan*. But on a regular day basis, no I would not join nor would I support.

The only experience I have with militias was during my time as a deputy sheriff. They strongly believe in the sovereign citizen movement ideology where I live. A few I met claimed I wasn't a real citizen (I'm mostly Puerto Rican, born in Texas, my white grandmother has roots beck to the revolutionary war, I used to be a member of the Sons of the American Revolution) because only white people were citizens under the constitution. Apparently(according to them) non-whites only became citizens after the fourteenth amendment passed.
Suffice it to say we didn't get along while I was in law enforcement. Less now that I'm out.
My current problem with "unofficial" militias is that they all seem to have some sort of political ideology.

I do support the Militia that is pure meaning that they are true patriots and not nut cases. The militia in my state makes everyone go through a background check and as usual have a certain skill set that proves useful. On another note (We all raised our hands to defend the Constitution of the United States) that does not go out the door just because were are no longer in uniform...

Police and national guard generally fit this bill. A bunch of guys gathering around their hunting lodge doesn't fit the constitutions clause of "well regulated".

Yes I support the state militia, because it is of the people. Anytime you have to choose between the American people and the government I choose the people every time. If there was a militia close to me I would join. In the words of George Washington " if the government takes away the citizens right to bear arms it becomes the citizens duty to take away the governments right to govern". And a militia is the citizens who would be able to do that.

If it is a constitutional militia that is directed by the local sheriff and or the state Governor that is part of acting under constitutional law, yes. A militia protecting the people from a tyrannical unconditional government where the military, national guard, sheriff's office and police have failed. yes. A bunch off cammo unorganized or organized group such as antifa, no I don't support anything like it.

Yes, I would consider myself as a supporter of the militia. Having have served in two types, both the National Guard and the State Guard/State Defense Force.
