There is a lot to be said for someone who comes forward and asks for help. I don't believe the individual should be penalized for seeking help. The best thing to do would be to confront the individual in a non official capacity, give him or her the opportunity to self refer. That was what my LPO did for me. I went through SARD(now SARP) and have been sober for 13 years now.
