Hopefully when it counts the Troops retain some of that information but nothing beats Hands On. When I was taking the Telecommunications Managers course I took extensive notes and copied them 3 times before I called it a night everyday and that seemed to have done the trick. I have to make it into a Physical Action to retain it even if it is just copying the information. I don't know anyone who actually reads the material. The only training being done is in the attempt to find a way to finish the courses faster. It's a CYA for higher ups mostly with good intentions to actually encourage/discourage a behavior. Yet in the end it's just "they were trained to/not to do this." In person classes are no better most of the time. Even if you take tests then it's presented in a way of how to pass the test not understand the material. This is because instructors need to keep their pass/fail rate up or its their fault. Honestly I think a higher fail rate would be better than no one understanding what they were supposed to be learning. Some things like ethics/SHARP/EO can not be taught in a 30 min online class or a one day "Safety Stand down" it must be mentored over time but that can not be measured. What I would like to see are pre-exams that will recertify us if we score high enough...say 85 or 90%.<br /><br />The other thing I wish would change is how the ASAP courses are done. I HATE HATE HATE! how we have to enroll for all of the different substances separately. Maybe they can be linked together into one course that tracks percentage completion like the SSDs do 1SG Private RallyPoint Member Fri, 01 Jan 2016 20:44:19 -0500 2016-01-01T20:44:19-05:00 Response by 1SG Private RallyPoint Member made Jan 2 at 2016 6:13 AM https://www.rallypoint.com/answers/do-you-think-the-current-annual-online-training-courses-are-treated-more-like-an-annual-checklist-instead-of-training?n=1210428&urlhash=1210428 <div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>Yes it has definitely become a check the block thing. 1SG Private RallyPoint Member Sat, 02 Jan 2016 06:13:07 -0500 2016-01-02T06:13:07-05:00 Response by SSG Private RallyPoint Member made Jan 15 at 2016 8:25 PM https://www.rallypoint.com/answers/do-you-think-the-current-annual-online-training-courses-are-treated-more-like-an-annual-checklist-instead-of-training?n=1238730&urlhash=1238730 <div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>Yes, that's why Soldiers talk about Googling for answers openly in front of their leadership, or shortcuts to finish faster.
