Do you think we will end up with boots on the ground in Yemen?

With the local government falling to ISIS and other terrorist organizations, do you think we will (or should) have troops on the ground in Yemen?

I think we could end up with boots on ground in just about ANY of those countries.....Yemen included....

With the way things are going overseas, it would not surprise me in the slightest. It feels like we are constantly feeding aid and military to support to more countries every day. This is not a sustainable process, but someone has to do it.

In a full up deployment capacity, no. In a different capacity, I'm sure that is already occuring.

I think so but there will be consideration of how to hide it politically and shift blame to others if something goes wrong.. which it will....

If we do it will be a huge mistake. Yemen is a breading ground for terrorist and if we put boots on the ground it will be seen as the US as invading another country.

Please I hope not. The US cannot police the Earth without breaking its own back. Every sand-lot is not a vital national interest because bad guys can thrive there. Many conflicts are older than the US and more entrenched than we can hope to resolve...Sunni vs Shia, Arab vs Persian, Muslim vs Jew, Serb vs Croat. Are they ALL worth our blood?

I can see not getting in the middle of the ISIL vs. Iraq crap but, Yes! I think we should have had boots up the Al Qaeda queers asses in Yemen already, we went after them in Afghanistan for 9/11 because they attacked us, and Yemen's Al Qaeda HAS TRIED TO ATTACK US TOO. Boots, lots of boots in Yemen.

Yes, I believe we will eventually have troops on the ground; a light footprint (Air Power and SpecOps) following our tactics currently in Iraq due to current administration not wanting to go against what they campaigned on (getting us out of war). Yet, with so many places around the world falling into ISIS/ISIL hands, we are now seeing the effects of a new type of enemy; not just another terrorist organization. This enemy leverages social networking extremely effectively to recruit and inspire people to commit atrocities while filming with Hollywood quality videos, and also as a conduit for command and control of their forces. In addition to the traditional battlefields and COIN tactics, we will need to fight them in battlespaces we are not used to fighting in (cyberspace: cyber defense and offense ops, countering enemy social media efforts, etc). Air power and SpecOps are effective but to fight this enemy, we will need a higher and unfortunately unpopular commitment to win - whether it's in Yemen, Iraq, Syria, Afghanistan, or anywhere else ISIS/ISIL is popping up.

No. The Saudis are running that show and have stabilized things. I just spoke with some senior Saudis and Their Special Forces are training Yemeni forces to maintain control. No need or desire for us to become involved.
