And I am going to say additionally that barracks standards that pass in CONUS might not in Germany and/or Korea. Typically what happened with me CONUS is the First Sergeant used the Master Key to spot check rooms or hit them all depending on his mood after the 9:00 a.m. formation to see what kind of state they were in. Conus, if your shoes were clean of mud and lined up with your spare boots, floor was swept and bunk made........no issue, restroom generally clean, wall lockers secure with padlock so unless it was official inspection........never looked at. Overseas the floor had to be buffed to a shine and low quarters and spare boots shined, restroom spotless. Bed made to a barracks SOP. TA-50 layout inspections CONUS only after a trip to NTC, OCONUS and with a Mech unit, once a quarter. Official inspections is where they inspected your wall locker because that was the only time you were there and could leave them unlocked for inspection. But the married folk living in town, some were so broke their fridges were empty and places were a mess and the command only found out after the landlord would call and complain. Many a Soldier asked why the married Soldiers weren't getting their places looked at.
