I read an article this morning (title of this is from the article) from the NationalJournal that was posted on the "Early Bird" (the article can be found at http://www.nationaljournal.com/defense/does-the-va-have-a-women-veterans-problem-20141026) Is this really a problem? What can we do to help?

CW3 Guy Snodgrass, based on the article, it does seem that the VA is looking "past" women and focusing on the majority of veterans, men. I'm not condoning it or saying it's right. Seems like women get the "short end of the stick" on so many fronts ... why should it be any different with the VA? Of course, it should be different! There should be equal treatment for male and female veterans. I'm guessing that support for women falls short because there are fewer female vets. Not an excuse, just an observation.

How can we (RP, military,etc) make the necessary changes to "fix" this? The VA is so often in the news illustrated in a light of "FUBAR" to say the least. Another article this morning (http://www.militarytimes.com/article/20141028/NEWS05/310280051/IG-Former-chief-wounded-warrior-office-broke-law-DoD-regs) talks about misuse of "power". I believe that along with other "misuses" (http://www.airforcetimes.com/article/20141027/NEWS/310270062/IG-Former-NRO-deputy-director-misused-government-vehicle) are symptoms of the much larger problem...our government leaders. IMHO we need to all vote and vote for those folks that want to "do the right thing" and actually do it.

Editorial: VA should improve treatment for female veterans
Despite the decadeslong influx of women into the military, too many hospitals run by the Department of Veterans Affairs still cater to men. Female veterans find their care is often outsourced, or they struggle to abide treatment plans designed for men that fall short of meeting their needs. This haphazard approach to medical care is unacceptable in the age of modern medicine and disrespectful to female veterans who have a right to expect...
