Does your unit use loudspeakers for music during APFT 2 mile run?

I know this is done. Just curious how many actually do this. I believe it is allowed because music is for all and nothing is worn on uniform.

I've only seen that during long boring battalion/ brigade runs. Never during APFT

What I have seen, which was helpful, are "pace runners" for the stragglers.

No but I've seen it done. Yes it's allowed. Hell you could even carry a phone with you playing music. From what I recall, the reg says no headphones in uniform. It doesn't say anything about units can't play motivational music or that even someone can't carry music with them.

I have my phone on me when I do the walk because I use my MayMyRun App to keep my pace. I'm AD.

Maybe not on an APFT now that I think of it. That's usually during "fun" runs.

I have seen the huge time clock set up.

I've seen it done when the APFT was on a track. Tracks are boring and you have to have something to keep you entertained while running eight laps.

Yes seen it before !! Also My wife’s old unit would allow the soldiers to wear headphones only during the 2 mile run .

No but when we were warming up for a battalion run we had music playing over the system. Was really awesome having hundreds of soldiers in the motor pool before sunrise getting warmed up and listening to some good music.

I wish they would play music when doing the APFT run. Running is so boring.

This goes back awhile, in '83 my company was going to have our PT test and the company commander was into "Rocky" big time, somehow he got ahold of a portable PA system and for the whole test he had "Eye of the tiger" on a loop. It wasn't bad at first during the push-ups, it was starting to get old after the sit-ups, by the time the run was over I wanted to grab the tape, smash it with a 20lb sledge hammer then set it on fire. To this day I can't listen to that song.
