E-Cig use on post-any thoughts?

I use one discreetly while in uniform to lower regular cigarette smoking...anyone have any thoughts, horror stories, good, bad, etc? I know this has been a topic a few times-but the survey portion is important to me just to get a rough idea on everyone's thoughts on it.

I actually just noticed this last drill, that there were way fewer guys standing out back of the armory smoking than I'd ever seen before. My platoon SGT and a couple other guys who used to be regular smokers were using the an e-cig. I don't have a problem with it. I also don't have a problem with smoking though either! Though I don't use tobacco myself other than a cigar in a blue moon.

As long as people follow the same guidelines as traditional tobacco use (and this is from a vaper) I think it is fine. The thing that gets me is when people council you on "vaping in a non-smoking area" and then proceed into the building with a huge dip in their lip...

Ok; apparently "discreet" was the wrong word...I don't go walking down the street with one in uniform, and use it in designated smoking areas...haha people keep busting me out-it's good though helps me pay attention to what I post and how I word it :)

Electronic cigarettes are not offensive to me, but I must enforce the standards which govern the practice of "vaping". I do hate breathing in or smelling smoke from others smoking Tabaco cigarettes. Dipping is less offensive as long as the person deposits their spit into a proper container but again, I must enforce the standards surrounding that too. What about smokeless and spitless Tabaco though such as Camel Snus? It is smokeless and spitless. I used to be hooked on that stuff. I took me several weeks to get the addiction out of my body. I use to have a pouch in my mouth all the time.

SSG Kenneth Lanning though I smoke, I don't see the e-cig as a "smoking cessation" tool, I think you are substituting one habit for another. Here in Ft. Meade, Garrison CDR sent a Policy about it's use and in it, it is considered a tobacco product just as regular cigarettes. Here the Policy in case you don't have it on hand.

I use e-cigs and they helped me quit smoking after doing so for more than 30 years (ouch). Treat them the same as cigarettes, in designated spaces, and don't be the asswipe who states that it's not smoking, so they can do it anywhere.

We are the military and need to set the example.
