Ever feel like a burden because of Medical Issues?

I ask for personal reasons not because of someone trying to make someone feel bad. I have had two hip surgeries in the past year and a few other things wrong. Its part of the job I do understand that. I just hate the fact that I cant go out and lead like I should be or go move the heavy stuff like I used to be able to. I gets a little stressful at times. Just wanted to know if anyone else has the same issue with injuries that I do

SGT Private RallyPoint Member, as a disabled Vet who can barely walk without a crutch, I can understand where you are coming from, but you can never let yourself feel like you are a burden to anyone. You do everything that you CAN do, and don't sweat the stuff that you can't. With some hard work you may be able to return to some of the things that you used to do, but you have to realize that there are some things that are just going to make your condition worse. That was my problem, I refused to admit I had a medical issue (a matter of both personal pride, and esprit de corps), and I did not seek medical help until it was too late. You have done the right thing in having your hip surgery done now. To wait could have cost you a great deal in your later life, and you WILL have a life after the Army !! Go to physical therapy, and just take things slow to start out. Listen to your doctor, and don't let others "encourage" to do too much. You'll be thankful later !! Best of luck !!

From time to time, I have felt bad about service related medical issues, and then I remind myself that this was not my fault, and I snap out of. We are lucky because we are still living where others are not. We carry on the best we can, so please do not feel like you are a burden, because you are not!

I worry about being a burden to my kids. I have told them just build a little outdoor shower they can roll me onto then spray me off. Keep my iPad and kindle charged. Pay for my Netflix. If it gets too bad roll me off a dock and turn on the tears for the cops.

Of course not. The Army broke me, they can damn well fix me. If all of us our responsible for our actions, so is the institution that put us in harm's way.
