As the US Army had warheads prepositioned for use by our allies during the cold war. This gave us a chance to work side by side with NATO comrades. During that period I have earned three awards: The German Shooting Badge in Bronze, The German Rocket Artillery Badge in Silver, and I did the 4 Days March of Nijmegen with a platoon of Dutch soldiers from our Firing Battalion earning the 4 Days March Medal. So what awards have you earned, how did you get them? Any one here ever use a static line extender?
Received a commendation medal from 30th ROK Regiment that was not authorized for wear. Now that I'm an old fart it's part of the seldom worn rack.
Same goes for a couple of RVN awards. The Province Chief presented them without checking to see if they were authorized for 'Muricans. The division G-something or other was at the hospital with him and was quick to let me know that I could accept but they were ceremonial only.
Did get to wear the Gallantry Crosses and Honor Medal I was awarded when with 5th Group. Got those for standing up when I should have stayed sitting down and not swearing at our counterparts.
And, of course, Vietnamese unit citations awarded to the units I served with there. And a ROKPUC.
That's about all of them.
