We used to hold a Trash Haulers' Ball where you had to be in uniform but nothing could be in regs. My wife went in the old chocolate chip DCUs we dyed pink, with pipi long stockings pigtails out holes in side of the "cap."

I think some military members forget that the "work" uniform whether it be ACUs, ABUs, or "digies" are just a pattern printed on fabric. I own a pair of scrubs made from ripstop with an ACU pattern and get asked all the time if it is a uniform. No, it was not issued they were purchased from a non-clothing and sales shop. Technically yes it is a scrub uniform(medical not military) just like a blue polo shirt and khaki's are a uniform at best buy.

I made something like that for my Combat Dinning Out (I was mil at the time), only my top was a vest and I had a tan tank on under it. (Before I cut it up I verified it was ok, the Command Chief said as long as there was no tags it was fine.)

Unfortunately, that's not the worst I've seen. Yesterday, a very large woman was wearing Army ACU's. sleeves torn off at shoulders, bottom half of blouse cut off to make a halter. Pants--about 3 sizes too small, pockets were bedazzled and she had them bloused over her 6" heels. Oh yeah, completely bald head and Mr Clean earrings. All I could think was wow. Just wow. This one should have the sh$t slapped out of her.

This is definitely a spouse with what appears to be a handsewn uniform. The stitching where the path is and on bottom of the sleeve give it away. Also not the shoes she tried to match to her uniform. And I dont recall any regs station allownce of a ponytail like that nor the color. She is probably supporting her spouse or close relative.
