Has anyone else received the notice that our security clearance back ground check will now involve social media?

I would say, if you are on the ISIS/ISIL/Daesh web-sites...we might want to limit what information you can have access to?

Read it again. The notice says they can no longer search social media unless there is probable cause. They can't even ask for your social media accounts and passwords anymore.

Since I've been retired for as long as I served now I don't really keep up like I used to. But it only makes sense...Social media is a much bigger part of the world than it was even 10 years ago.... One can learn alot about a person by following them on social media...

Never received "official" notice, but its been apparent over the past few years. I have known folks that were "let go" from their jobs based off comments posted on social media. I have been asked a few times by interviewers about what posts/pix are on my social media sites. I have nothing to hide and only use this site and FB for social media so I tell them "not only is it clean, but we can login and look at right now if you'd like"

No I received Notice that all the Personal Data for anyone that had a Security Clearance had been Hacked/Compromised.

They can look at what you have set available for the public to see. So if you're worried just go through your settings and lock it up. If you want help you can see your S6/S2. someone should have the social media walkthrough on how to secure it. If anything the IAO (Information Assurance Officer) should know where to get it.

And this is a surprise why? If you post on social media don't be surprised if it turns up somewhere. I don't care if you 'lock down' your stuff. And btw - it's fairly obvious that alot of people are damn careless on social media. I have seen all sorts of opsec stuff posted on FB and the like by servicemen - and not just young kids.
