There are many talented military members who would be good at it though. I used to do the National Anthem for various events on base. Even to this day it irritates me to hear The Star Spangled Banner sung the way it was not written, with extra notes added, not making the range, etc. I was a music major prior to enlisting majoring in voice and minoring in piano, so I'm somewhat hardline when it comes to how songs should be performed. It's actually easier to sing in front of people than speak in front of them. It's not my own, but rather one about one of my best friends in life. His name was Brad Crandall. Was? Yes, he's passed. He joined the Marines as soon as he could but missed WWII, and ended up in China working on a Stars 'n Stripes radio station. He schooled his voice by imitating William Conrad who played the role of Marshall Matt Dillon in the Gunsmoke radio series popular at that time. When his enlistment ended, he went to Canada to work in a small radio station. He virtually lived at the station, eating peanut butter sandwiches and drinking milk that he kept cool on a window ledge. In time NBC discovered him and he became a host on their Monitor broadcast network in NYC. In time he became a voice over actor and was so popular that I frequently heard him narrating consecutive commercials on radio and television. Keep in mind that his highly successful career began in a tiny military radio station half way around the world. Let that be your inspiration and go for it...
