Ft. Hood,TX has a course. But to be honest a lot of it is on-the-fly learning and self-help. Regulations and policies will become your best friend. Commander, 1SG, Platoon Sergeants, and Platoon Leaders will either love you or hate you. AR 350-1 will be your primary weapon. Have fun. If I remember correctly it was 2 weeks long. What helped me, I got acquainted with AR 350-1 and had a sit down with the S3 for a good battle rhythm. It is an awesome course. It explains so much. And, because it is at Knox, it is free to toy command. They still have to pay your orders of you're not AGR, but everything else is free. This is a 40 hours course that is helpful for newly appointed Training NCO's because the first 4 days cover DTMS almost exclusively. The last day and a half prior to out-processing they cover ATRRS input.

Depending on your "Daily duties and scope" assigned by your Supervisor/Rater, you may be required to complete many other administrative duties as well. If this is the case, you should also consider looking into the Basic HR and Admin Course. This is another 40 hours course that covers many other topics such as resolving pay problems and submitting Soldiers pay, memo writing, awards, and many other common tasks.

Best of luck SSG! I wish that I had received this type of training much earlier in my career. I highly recommend this class for any NCO.
