Before getting out I saw the job go from what I was trained for to several part of the job being done by General Dynamics and it felt like I became a equipment baby sitter rather than operator.Response by SPC Shannon Holmes made Jun 10 at 2018 2:01 PM2018-06-10T14:01:10-04:002018-06-10T14:01:10-04:002LT Private RallyPoint Member3843643<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>It’s the same as the active duty training. 29 Weeks at Ft. Gordon. The first 3.5 months are foundations of networking, electronics, and learning the fundamentals of routing and switching equipment. The middle 2 months are voice over IP, transmission resource controllers, encryption/decryption, and server programming. Last 2 months are focused on putting it all together in a functional JNN. It was a decent course and I came he and got a great job very quickly.<br /><br />It’s a good MOS with lots of room for professional advancement, and the opportunity to command a nice salary if you put the work into getting certifications in the industry.Response by 2LT Private RallyPoint Member made Aug 1 at 2018 8:10 AM2018-08-01T08:10:59-04:002018-08-01T08:10:59-04:00SPC Private RallyPoint Member3973927<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>I’m a reservist myself, but the SPCs are both right. There is no real difference in training. however they might overtrain you (assuming they still don’t have the colorless system in the school) to work with the equipment that needed to all be set up by hand. Now the equipment is run much more efficiently, with more virtual machines than physical equipmentResponse by SPC Private RallyPoint Member made Sep 18 at 2018 11:15 AM2018-09-18T11:15:34-04:002018-09-18T11:15:34-04:002018-06-04T15:35:34-04:00
